(A programme for Whole Teacher Preparation)
Introduction
Present international developments in regard to Education shift more and more towards philosophical frameworks like Holism, Multiple-intelligences, Systems- and Process philosophy and supported by learner centered didactic approaches. This programme uses these theoretical frameworks while offering to go beyond the same to tap into the experiences that these frameworks describe. These experiences are expressions of ever continuing inner developmental processes. This Whole teacher programme offers to prepare teachers to assist learners in making mentioned inner developmental processes visible through an ever growing awareness. The awareness thus gained stimulates the Whole Person to grow beyond the parameters of knowledge and skills based training and aligns what a learner feels with what s/he thinks, expresses, communicates and does.
The ACM Living Awareness programme, that is the basis of this Whole Teacher preparation programme, teaches a more natural way of learning, living and working. It teaches not to focus on the outcome or product of human action or the learning process but on the quality of the process that leads to a certain result. Its approach assists individual learners within organizations in the process of dynamically balancing the fulfillment of their own needs in connection with their environment so that these needs can be met. As this process of dynamic
interconnected balancing is an ongoing process one will always indirectly work to realize the most optimal result. Our faculty focuses on the quality of life and learning of the individuals involved in our programmes.
Through this programme Teachers will be integrally assisted in growing spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and physically. Its learning approach is an integration of holistic learning, holistic conceptualization, practice/application, observation & feedback and reflection within the context of learning. This programme transforms teacher preparation to cater to the inner needs of teachers and learners, thereby helping to extend the reach of teachers into subjective realms of experience.
Whole Teacher training
The objective of this programme is to create a basis from which professionals in the Educational, Health Care and other fields can be assisted in shifting towards a paradigm of connectedness and wholeness. This programme stimulates the development of awareness of the Multiple Intelligences, dynamics of living systems, learning processes and health. It also results in cognitive and affective reframing.
It can enable teachers and learners to solve the following challenges:
- how to become a Whole Person from within;
- how to engage the Whole Person from within;
- how to assess inner developmental processes from fundamental experiential levels;
- how to ignite the genius within and assist learners in doing the same;
- how to create environments in which learners can feel energetic, connected, healthy, stimulated, inspired and cared for.
Moreover, if we can create such stimulating environments that span our whole community, each person in this community can feel connected with others.
The learning experience
Apart from weekly or daily classroom sessions, depending if it concerns a local or international training, learners can also participate in individual sessions that aim at personalizing this programme to cater to the need of the individual learner in regard to the development of awareness, practical knowledge and skills. During the six-month training the learner can meet weekly or monthly with a mentor-counselor.
